Impact of migrant remittances on entrepreneurship in developing countries.

The main objective of this thesis is to analyse the effects of climate variability and adaptation strategies on agricultural productivity in Burundi.

More specifically, it will aim to

  • Determine the effects of temperature and rainfall variations on food production
  • Identify the determinants of the intensity of adoption of the National Chemical Fertiliser Subsidy Programme;
  • Assess the impact of the National Chemical Fertilizer Subsidy Programme on agricultural productivity in Burundi.

In this sense, we formulate three main hypotheses that seem the most relevant and explanatory:

  • H1: Climate variability has a negative effect on the food system in Burundi.
  • H2: The intensity of adoption of the National Chemical Fertilizer Subsidy Programme depends mainly on climatic conditions.
  • H3: The National Chemical Fertilizer Subsidy Programme has a low impact on agricultural productivity in Burundi.
