Within the framework of the strategic partnership established with the support of Esther DUFLO, Nobel Prize in Economics 2019, in collaboration with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Laboratory (J-PAL), Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) and the French Development Agency (AFD), On 19 July 2023, ENSEA Abidjan hosted the second day of the third workshop on public policy impact assessment, focusing on technical education, vocational training and education, priority areas of the 2021-2025 National Development Plan.

This workshop, intended for civil servants, students and lecturers-researchers who wish to further their theoretical and practical knowledge of impact assessment, was structured around introductory sessions on impact assessment methods and presentations of current initiatives in technical education, vocational training and education.

It was the starting point for the continuing education project initiated by J-PAL and ENSEA on entrenching public policies in a “culture of evidence”, aimed at Ivorian civil servants.

On 18 July 2023, a cooperation agreement was signed for the implementation of continuing education for Ivorian civil servants and the development of a Master’s Program in the evaluation of public policies between the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Statistique et d’Economie Appliquée (ENSEA) and J-PAL at the Prime Minister Office in the presence of the Minister General Secretary of the Presidency, Abdourahmane CISSE, the Minister for Planning and Development, Nialé KABA, the Minister for Technical Education, Vocational Training and Apprenticeships, KOFFI N’Guessan and the Minister for National Education and Literacy, Mariatou KONE.

This agreement follows mutual commitments made at the Summer School in Development Methodology co-organised by ENSEA and J-PAL at ENSEA in Abidjan from 5 to 8 July 2022, which was attended by Prof. Esther Duflo, Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics and co-founder of J-PAL.
