Fiscal policy and multilateral surveillance in the Economic Community of Central African States

In developing countries, the informal economy represents a large share of the economy with a significant cost to public finances. This thesis therefore seeks to analyse the effects of the informal economy in the economies of sub-Saharan Africa. Specifically, it aims to

  • Analyse the effects of the informal economy on fiscal performance;
  • Analyse the effects of the informal economy on economic growth;
  • Determine the tax revenue threshold that influences the negative effects of the informal economy on economic growth.
